Our Story
Hi, I’m Joe Waybright, and I created Compassionate Compass Travel to bring together two things I love deeply: the joy of discovering new places, and the meaningful connections I’ve built working with children who have special needs. For nearly a decade, I’ve worked hands-on with kids who experience the world a little differently—children with Down syndrome, autism, and other medical or developmental challenges. Through that time, I’ve seen how much joy, growth, and freedom can come from new experiences—when those experiences are thoughtfully planned and truly accessible. Travel, for many families, feels like a dream wrapped in layers of stress—especially when you’re juggling therapies, routines, medical needs, or sensory sensitivities. I get it. I’ve walked alongside families through meltdowns in airports, unexpected schedule changes, and the tiny victories that make it all worthwhile. That’s why Compassionate Compass exists. My goal is simple: to help your family actually enjoy travel, not just survive it. Whether it’s building an itinerary that works with your child’s specific needs, suggesting accommodations that go the extra mile, or being available during your trip for support—I’m here to make your journey smoother, more joyful, and completely personalized. Every child deserves the chance to explore the world in a way that feels safe, exciting, and just right for them. Let’s create that experience together.
